Known as the Town of Trees for its diverse groves, it was commended as having “world-class beauty” and a strong community spirit in the Keep New Zealand Beautiful annual awards.
Cambridge was given the honour at the Toitu Otago Settlers Museum in Dunedin on Thursday night.
Internationally-renowned celebrity chef Michael Van de Elzen was a judge, along with Keep New Zealand Beautiful chief executive Heather Saunderson.
