Website Update - Tips, Tricks and How-To
You may have noticed that the Motorhome Friendly Towns website has had a revamp recently with a fresh new look, layout and a brand new section for you to explore: Cycling & Walking Trails! So what’s new, what do you need to know to make the most of the new website?
To start, make sure to take some time to explore and take a look around. There’s plenty of great information, Motorhome Friendly Towns, Events with Parking, Walking and Cycling Trails and a useful ‘Journey Planner’ to get you sorted this summer.
Let’s take it page by page, starting with..
MHF Home Page
The first thing you might notice is that we now have a row of 5 Motorhome Friendly Towns proudly displayed at the top of the page. The towns which are displayed change each time you visit. Have a go exploring the 52 towns that have worked with us to make your adventures easier and more fun.
Below this section is a brand new addition to the MHF website, an interactive map that displays towns, events and trails in a more geographically focussed way. For example: Do you live in Napier? Simply click on the map to begin and select a green circle closest to where you’d like to explore, then further refine your search by clicking another green circle closer still to your desired destination. The number in the green circle represents the amount of activities in, or near the Motorhome Friendly Town.
Keep clicking on the areas you’re interested in and you’ll be met with specific locations and information for an event in that area, or the beginnings of your next walking and cycling adventure.
Speaking of walking and cycling, below the map and the events, is a selection of the last 5 walking and cycling trails we’ve loaded onto the website. Click any that take your fancy, or the red button that says ‘view all’ to really get exploring.
Each town will also have a walking and cycling section unique to them. For example: Live in or around Cromwell? Planning to visit soon? Visit the towns page and select ‘Cromwell’ from the drop down list. Scroll down to find the walking and cycling trails section - this initially lists two trails in or close to the town. Clicking ‘View all Trails’ will link you to a list of all trails for that particular town.
The events section of the new website hasn’t changed all that much, but it definitely has a new, more modern look. There’s a handy filter to the left of the list of events we have on offer that can help refine your search. Filter by date, type of event (category), event type (parking, safari etc) and by Motorhome Friendly Town. Inside of each event is much the same: read about the events on offer, book parking, purchase tickets and find contact information for any event that sparks your interest. Get amongst it! We have a great variety of events with motorhome/caravan parking on offer.
Walking & Cycling Trails
The newest addition to the website is the exciting inclusion of a walking and cycling trails section. Once you’ve navigated to the page you’ll be greeted with a list of all the trails we’ve loaded so far. Notice that each track has a symbol in the top right hand corner of each track’s tile graphic. Use this to quickly identify whether a track is for cycling, for walking - or both!
On the left hand side you might recognise a similar filter system to what is used for special events. Use this to fine tune your search until you find your perfect next adventure. We’re busy adding new content everyday, so make sure to check back regularly.
The updated website is still quite new so there may be a few quirks for us to work through. If you have any questions or feedback about how to use the website please contact us.
