In 1988 aviation entrepreneur Sir Tim Wallis shared his passion for Warbirds and Classic Aircraft with the public by creating an Airshow that is now a biennial centre piece of Central Otago’s tourist attractions. The first airshow and country fair attracted 14,000 visitors to Wanaka Airport.
Delighted with this success, he decided to expand on the theme and hold a biennial event over the long Easter weekend. As the show grew so did its support and now around 50,000 people make the pilgrimage to Wanaka for their weekend of excitement.
Now acclaimed as the largest Warbird Airshow in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the world's top four Warbird airshows - you should not miss this event!

This year Criffel Station is excited to be working closely with the NZMCA to provide terrace parking for the 2020 Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow - a working deer farm, the Criffel Terrace is located directly across the road from the Wanaka Airport at 9 Mount Barker Road, and provides terrific uninterrupted views of the show.
Access to the Terrace however is about 1km along Mt Barker Road from SH6, with gates opening at 7 am on Friday 10th of April or as soon after as daylight allows. All vehicles must be on site by 10 am, after which time the gates are closed.
