Mandeville Steam Festival & Fly-In 2018

Mandeville Aerodrome, State Highway 94 (about 10 minutes north-west of Gore), Mandeville:CSC Parking Onsite 24th - 25th Feb '18

"A fantastic family day out reliving the age of steam power."

Each Summer Mandeville puts on a public event and this year, the focus is steam.

The Rogers K-92 steam engine will be back on site and puffing away. There will be traction engines, stationary engines and other steam vehicles both on show and being demonstrated.

It’s also an opportunity to get up close to vintage bi-planes and watch them in flight. A fantastic family day out reliving the age of steam power.

It’s a great family day out with entry to the museum and workshop tours. The local steam club brings up its traction engines for a “classic” race down the air field each day and if the weather plays the part there is opportunity to fly in a helicopter.

Entry is $5 for adults

The event is held annually normally in February to mark the anniversary of the first cross country flight in New Zealand, between Invercargill and Gore on February 20, 1914.
