THE RALLY MARSHALLS: Geoff & Joyce Raynel and Wendy King would like to welcome you to join us on our 2020 Fishing Safari

COST: Prepayment of $5.00/per person per night. Bookings essential: Contact us for banking details.


The emphasis on this safari is to have fun: Non fishing safari goers are welcome to join us on this safari.

This safari is relaxed and friendly. Enjoy yourselves. We will have a pot luck dinner and along the way we will give you some forward notice. On the last night at Kuratau we finish with a pot luck dinner and prize giving. 

If you have any ideas for a fun activity during the trip let us know. There will be some activities for those not interested in fishing.

Happy hour each day will be at 4.00 pm. Bring along your coffee, wine, water or whatever and some nibbles. Weigh masters will measure and weigh fish, and condition score at this time. There will be a weigh in sheet that will be filled out by you for the days catch. The limit for Lake Taupo is now six trout with a 35 minimum length.

A spot prize will be awarded for the best conditioned trout caught at each destination. Prizes will be awarded at the Rally Marshalls discretion.

RAFFLES: We may have a raffle or two along the way.

HOBBIES: Bring along your hobbies ladies and gentlemen. We will have a hobbies afternoon or two along the way.

Activities include fishing, kayaking, boating, cycling, walking, and swimming. You might like to check out the nearby Cafe L’Arte, mosaics, good food and coffee and a shop above the cafe selling various arty items.

If there is enough transport we will organise a morning tea for the ladies at Cafe L’Arte Café.


Travel Directory 3368: State Highway 1: One kilometre south of the Airport Road. Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd March 2020:

Activities include fishing, boat and fly fishing, kayaking, cycling, swimming, walking the lions walk and of course there is always the shops close by.  For a donation you can fill your vans with water and dump rubbish at the Lake Taupo NZMCA Park.


ALAN SIMMONS PRIVATE PROPERTY: 99 Grace Road, opposite the Turangi Airport. Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th, Wednesday 25th March 2020: Grace Road is about 1 kilometre north of Turangi Bridge. Take care driving into this property. You might like to walk it first. The property bounds on the banks of the Tongariro River: Pot luck dinner on Monday 23rd.

Activities include river fishing, walking, and cycle tracks nearby. Shopping in Turangi or enjoying a coffee at one of the cafes in Turangi.  


48 RIVER PARK DRIVE.  Thursday 26th, Friday 27th, Saturday 28th March 2020, head home on Sunday 29th: The property is straight through at the end of the road. The Floating Rock pizza Cafe (closed) will be on your right before the drive.  

Activities include river fishing, kayaking, walking, lake fishing, boating. There is a well stocked store at Omori, which sells petrol, diesel coffee etc.

Saturday 28th: All fish must be at the Weigh Masters by 2.00pm sharp:

Saturday 28th Happy Hour 4.00pm: Prize giving.

Saturday night 28th MARCH: Pot luck dinner.
