Fun Curling Competition Naseby

Maniototo Curling International, Channel Road Naseby 20th - 21st Nov '17

Fun Curling Competition;

Come and join us in this new fun filled curling competition, exclusively for NZMCA members.

Date: 20th November (from midday) and 21st November (straight after 'Gold N Notes' in Cromwell) – Naseby is approx. 1.5 hours drive from Cromwell

No experience necessary as we will provide all instructions and equipment needed on the day. Note: if you haven’t tried this before the ice is NOT slippery so don’t let that put you off.

Make up teams of 4 people or come along and join a team on the day – this competition is limited to a total of 64 competitors.

Cost is $40 per person, which guarantees a minimum of 2 games (games take approx. 2 hours, with a coffee break at half time), price includes tea and coffee.  Rink temperature is approx 10 degrees, but ice temperature is -4 degrees, so thick socks are advisable.   Comfortable, clean flat sole shoes are a must.

A little about Curling: "The game of curling is very similar in concept to playing lawn bowls.  Like lawn bowls, the curling stones do not like going in a straight line, so to control them we send them down the ice in an arc, and to get this result you need to put a slow rotation on the stone as you release the shot.  The idea is to get your teams stones closer to the centre of the house (shaped like a bullseye) than the oppositions.  Sweeping in front of the stone can help carry a stone further down the ice - and for experienced plays this can be an extra 3 metres (10 feet) - new players would make about half that distance.  Bottom line is that it is a whole lot of fun."

CSC Parking; Overnight parking is available on site. We do not have any catering available but we do have a bar, which will be open in our viewing lounge.

Expressions of interest in advance would be appreciated to assist with the organization.
