Aongatete Festival Under The Figs 2018

156 Work Road, Katikati 23rd - 24th Feb '18

Ours is a small, informal, low-profile, low-key, modest, understated, relaxing, restrained, easy-going, friendly, laid-back event at Paul and Penny’s orchard, Ecoworks, in Work Road, Aongatete (just south of Katikati).

This is a perfect setting for a small-scale outdoor concert: there is a permanent stage, and – because it’s a small-scale event with only two or three hundred people attending – concert-goers can sit close to performers under the surrounding fig trees which – along with some strategically-placed gazebos – provide shade. In the unlikely event of rain there are covered areas, so the music can be enjoyed rain or shine!

Music

Performers are a mix of talented amateur, semi-professional and professional artists – sometimes from overseas – playing music in the broad folk tradition: real folk making real music from most genres. At night we always have a jam. We sometimes hold informal music workshops and have new and second-hand instruments for sale.
