Motorhome Friendly Towns
You’ve frequently heard or seen the term ‘Motorhome Friendly Towns’, but what does it mean? The NZMCA begun the MHF scheme to encourage more towns around the country that are off the beaten track to be friendlier to motorhomers - you! To date 52 towns around our beautiful country have come on-board, meaning there are more dumpstations, more places to park and more reasons to comfortably explore the path less traveled and see more of what New Zealand has to offer.
> Hokitika "Cool Little Town"
Imagine those fun-filled, relaxed holidays you used to have, then throw in better coffee, a wild beach, awesome sunsets, mountain views, unique events and great cafes and galleries - and that’s Hokitika. When you think of the West Coast, you think untamed natural wilderness, genuine experiences and friendly characters that love to share a story. Hokitika is all that and more.
> Napier "The Home of Art Deco"
Napier is known for its nice climate, Art Deco and festivals, family and tourist friendly atmosphere. Just a few minutes drive from our inland neighbour Hastings (also a MHF town), it’s a friendly gateway to other great scenic stretches of coastline to the north and south and the perfect place to park up and explore.
> Westport "Untamed Natural Wilderness"
The lives of people here have been shaped by the heroic landscape, and our settlements still display plenty of pioneering spirit. For visitors, there’s our famous West Coast hospitality and a mind-boggling array of adventure and recreation possibilities to suit all tastes – with wild and tranquil rivers, dramatic seascapes, impressive wilderness and nature that will come to you.
> Whitianga "See Yourself Here"
Whitianga offers an endless choice of pastime activities. Take a launch or fishing trip, sea kayak, be fascinated by the amazing seascapes of our marine reserves or reflect in one of our museums on the heritage of a region first discovered by the two great navigators, Kupe and Cook.

Walking and Cycling Trails
We are very fortunate to live in such a stunningly beautiful country, and what’s the best way of exploring it? (besides your motorhome or caravan of course!). We believe a great way to experience the sights NZ has to offer is by taking full advantage of our many walking and cycling tracks all over the country - many in, or near a Motorhome Friendly Town! Be sure to let us know about your favourite walking or cycling trail.
